ELECTIONS 2022: The Assault on Reality
What does it mean when one of two political parties throws its weight behind a lie? More than we can imagine. We must push back against the dangerous ideology of the LGBTQ+ movement.
Kingdom Christians must be equipped to navigate a culture that is increasingly under the sway of another kingdom, one ruled over by a merciless Enemy. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be commenting on some of the issues at stake on Election Day, November 8, 2022.
I realize this will feel “off-brand” to those who have read my first few articles, but cultural issues are part of the package, and the political is cultural.
Today, I came across a story from across the pond. It seems England’s NHS has just issued new guidance for parents and professionals who interact with transgender children. As you read this, consider that similar language—used by a casual Facebook commentator—would probably be flagged for removal by the modern-day censors at Meta:
Most children who believe that they are transgender are just going through a “phase”, the NHS has said, as it warns that doctors should not encourage them to change their names and pronouns.
NHS England has announced plans for tightening controls on the treatment of under 18s questioning their gender, including a ban on prescribing puberty blockers outside of strict clinical trials.
And this…
NHS England says that the interim Cass Report has advised that even social transition, such as changing a young person’s name and pronouns or the way that they dress, is not a “neutral act” that could have “significant effects” in terms of “psychological functioning”.
This represents a significant reorientation in the British approach, a reversal that should encourage anyone who cares about the wellbeing of children.
Sad to say, even as the Brits reverse course, our President is doubling-down on the push to normalize permanent, irreversible medical procedures for children. Even as medical professionals are pumping the brakes on a tragic social experiment, our President is calling out “full steam ahead.”
From another story:
When asked if conservative states should have the right to pass laws limiting access to gender reassignment treatments, Mr Biden said in comments published on Sunday: “I don’t think any state or anybody should have the right to do that. As a moral question and as a legal question, I just think it’s wrong."
A number of Republican governors and lawmakers have backed bills blocking doctors from performing such treatment, especially when it comes to minors, claiming it is dangerous and has the potential to cause irreversible changes in younger patients.
Alabama, Arkansas, Texas and Arizona all enacted laws or policies earlier this year restricting youth access to sex change treatments, care and surgeries. In some cases, these laws impose penalties on adults who facilitate access to this care.
He went on to comment:
"This administration is committed to standing up for you against all these hateful bills, and we're committed to advancing transgender equality in the classroom, on the playing field, at work, in our military, in our housing and healthcare systems – everywhere," said Mr Biden on Thursday.
When he says “everywhere,” I believe he means everywhere. And he makes it clear what he believes about those who attempt to protect children from permanently life-altering mistakes:
"These bills are wrong. Efforts to criminalise supportive medical care for transgender kids… undermine their humanity and corrode our nation's values.
As tempting as it might be, we can’t hide from what he’s saying. This President, and his party, supports surgically altering the intimate body parts of boys and girls and/or giving them “medication” that render them permanently sterile. To oppose this is, in his words, “hateful.”
In a recent White House interview with with transgender influencer, Dylan Mulvaney, President Biden doubled down on this sentiment. Mulvaney, a grown man less than a year into his “transition” into living as a trans-woman, asks President Biden what he believes about any attempt to prevent children from receiving sex-change surgery. The President replies that “no state should be able to do that.” In his words, such attempts are “outrageous and immoral.” According to the leader of the Free World, the only reason people would be against such measures is simply a “lack of exposure” to the trans community. Interesting.
Consider his message on the “Transgender Day of Visibility”
As Christians, we need to come to grips with the reality that this movement is real. It’s here. It’s impacting the lives of most children in America, at least indirectly. When the President speaks, a nation hears.
As we draw near to another election, I feel it’s time to speak up on some of these issues. We need to realize that our votes matter. One of the two political parties in our country is running headlong off a cliff and taking a generation of children with them.
One member of this party has openly called for prosecuting parents who refuse to let their kids transition, accusing them of child abuse. She said the quiet part out loud, but if left unchecked, this is where the movement will take us.
It’s time for Christian leaders to overcome any allergy to being labeled “offensive” or “too political.” The debates being played out in the political realm are now encroaching into the most basic areas of morality. Those that deserve our protection are, instead, being victimized.
