Progressivism Today

The Progressive movement is alive and well. Like the Hydra of Greek mythology, it has many heads and new ones appear all the time!

In a previous post, we explored the ideological origins of Progressivism. This powerful movement is still alive today, though it has taken on many forms.

Just today, I came across a story in the New York Times about a man pushing for zero population growth. His views originate within the progressive movement and share the worldview assumptions that led the Supreme Court to order the forcible sterilization of American Citizens.

The ancient Greeks told the story of Hydra, a many-headed water monster whose very breath was poison. Even more frightening, when one head would be loped off, a new one would grow.

In the same way, progressivism is the spiritual, ideological, and societal monster against which we fight today. It appears in many different forms. In this video, we begin exploring the connection between this century-old movement and contemporary ones.
